Portrait of Female Figure Drawing Model

This was a long pose with a female figure drawing model where I decided to do a portrait. Like the way it came out and I did start with the classic bridgeman four lines approach. It really helps nail down the planes and keeps it tight. Trois crayon style colored pencil using black, brown and white with a little red to hit the warmer highlights.

The model had a sense of humor, and was a wearing a pirate hat and had a sword. Nice reclining pose so I had a chance to really get in a do some drawing. Sometimes a standing pose or a typical seated pose can lead to falling back into routines rather than stopping and really looking and thinking about the volume and form. But with a heavily foreshortened pose you have to stop and think or it will come out looking flat.

Digital Drawing of Reclining Female Figure Drawing Model

Nice long 6 hour pose with a reclining female figure drawing model. Started with black colored pencil and then added both white highlights and reds in the shadows. She was laying on a red sheet with some strong overhead light so that red reflections in the shadows were really strong. Would have actually liked to keep going. Felt like I was able to keep going into the drawing without leaving it looking overworked.

Digital Drawing of Seated Female Figure Drawing Model

It has been a while since I posted. Getting over the flu season. This is a drawing from a week ago, which at first I did not really appreciate. Now I have decided I like it even though it is gestural. I am really enjoying the new drawing tablet, switching to the 15 inch surface book has been a real plus. The bigger screen opens up some options.
